Uganda have officially opened their AFCON 2025 preparation camp in Casablanca. Head coach Paul Put begins the final phase of the Cranes. build-up to the tournament.

The squad arrived in Morocco earlier this week and immediately reported for fitness testing, tactical meetings. Plus a series of closed training sessions designed to sharpen cohesion before the group stage begins.

The camp marks the start of an intense pre-tournament schedule. Put has stressed discipline, structure and improved ball progression. The Uganda FA confirmed that all logistics are in place to ensure a smooth run into their opening match.

A large portion of the squad travelled together. While several foreign-based players are expected to join by the end of the week.

The coaching staff will use this window to evaluate the squad. Including form, physical readiness and positional competition before finalising tactical profiles for each match.

Early sessions have focused heavily on defensive shape and transitional movement. Uganda struggled for consistency during qualifying, but the technical team believes a stable camp environment will improve communication and game management.

Casablanca provides modern training facilities, high-quality pitches and warm-weather conditions similar to those expected during AFCON 2025. Morocco’s infrastructure and proximity to the host cities make it an ideal base for final preparations.

Uganda will also play at least one friendly behind closed doors. Officials are negotiating with two North African federations to secure competitive warm-up fixtures.

The Cranes enter the tournament as a disciplined and hardworking unit. Paul Put has spoken about mental resilience, demanding intensity and higher technical standards. With several key players now competing in strong foreign leagues, Uganda aim to surprise opponents and push for a place in the knockout rounds.

The camp in Casablanca is the first major step towards that goal.
