Liverpool suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season as Bournemouth secured a 3-2 win at the Vitality Stadium.
The Reds' 13-match unbeaten run across all competitions came to a crashing halt as they were stunned by the Cherries on a rainy Saturday evening at the South Coast.
Arne Slot's side are now winless in the Premier League since the turn of the year and could lose their place in the top four if results go against them tomorrow.
As for Bournemouth, it turned out to be a priceless three points as they moved to 13th in the table.
The Reds started on the front foot but failed to take their chances in front of goal. And they were made to pay for it as Evanilson took advantage of some lax defending from Virgil van Dijk to put the home side ahead from close range.
The passage of play also saw Joe Gomez pick up an injury, rubbing salt into Liverpool's wounds. Things quickly got worse for the Reds as an injured Gomez stayed on the pitch and watched his side go two goals down.
Jimenez looked lively throughout the game and took advantage of more average defending from Liverpool a few minutes later to give his side a two-goal lead.
However, just before the interval, Van Dijk atoned for his earlier error with a fantastic header to bring the Reds back into the game.
On his return to the Vitality Stadium, Milos Kerkez endured a night to forget as Jimenez consistently got the better of him in the first half.
Andy Robertson came on in his place after the interval as Slot opted to inject fresh blood and experience into his team.
And Liverpool restored parity in emphatic fashion, with Dominik Szoboszlai scoring his third free-kick goal of the season.
While he put it under the wall against Marseille in the UEFA Champions League, this time, he curved it around the Bournemouth wall after a cheeky little lay off from Mohamed Salah to bring his side level.
Liverpool looked like they'd get a point at least, but in the dying embers of the game, Amine Adli had the last laugh after coming on as a substitute.
After a goalmouth scramble, the Moroccan squeezed the ball home from close range with virtually the last kick of the game, sending the Vitality Stadium into a frenzy.
Andoni Iraola's side will look to build on their statement victory to move to the top half of the Premier League.
Slot and Liverpool, meanwhile, will be kicking themselves as they produced another dismal performance away from home.
