West Ham United and Brazil midfielder Lucas Paquetá has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Brazilian giants Flamengo, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Moreover, it is reported that Paquetá is keen on the move back to Brazil, and talks are ongoing with the Hammers, despite the club being in a perilous position in the Premier League table.

Lucas Paquetá asked not to play in West Ham's FA Cup tie, so he can pursue a move to Flamengo. Moreover, it has been a difficult season for the Brazilian and the club alike as West Ham sit in the relegation zone, seven points adrift of safety.

However, it looks like Paquetá is choosing the easy way out, as many West Ham United fans will see it; they will be very disappointed that one of their key players is choosing to leave in the club's toughest moments. Additionally, the club are also said to be disappointed by Paquetá's desire to move.

The Brazilian has managed four goals and one assist this season, showing the drop off in his own form as well as the team.

It looked as though Paquetá was going to leave last summer, with a move to Flamengo on the cards, but it did not go through and the player looked as though he was committed to West Ham

Moreover, he was linked with Manchester City for a long time, as it looked like that move would happen in 2023, but due to his gambling investigation, the deal collapsed.

If it is the end for Paquetá, his career will be remembered as one of the many faces who lifted the Europa Conference League title in 2023. Moreover, his successes with West Ham continued into the following season as he reached the Europa League quarter-final and guided to club to a top-eight finish.

However, a battle with the FA seemed to cast a cloud over a prolonged period of his time in England, as he was charged with serious spot-fixing charges. A two-year investigation concluded in July last year, and the player was cleared, as a result.

On the pitch, it has been a difficult spell since David Moyes left the club in 2024 with a 14th-place finish last season, and it looks as though Paquetá has decided to opt out with the club on the verge of a return to the Championship for the first time in 14 years.
