Antoine Semenyo is closing in on a January move to Manchester City, with Bournemouth expecting the deal to be finalised shortly. City are set to activate the winger’s £60–65 million release clause. This is after positive talks over payment structure and personal terms.

The move follows an outstanding first half of the season for Semenyo, who has been one of the Premier League’s most effective attackers. The Ghana international has scored nine league goals and added three assists. Driving Bournemouth’s attack with his pace, power and direct style. His ability to operate across the front line has made him a difficult matchup and a natural fit for an elite club.

City view Semenyo as a valuable addition to their attacking rotation. His physicality and willingness to run beyond defenders offer a different profile to their existing wide options. This has provided Pep Guardiola with added flexibility during a congested run of fixtures.

Interest in Semenyo has also come from Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United. But City’s willingness to move decisively in January has put them firmly in control of the deal.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, are preparing for his departure and have identified Brennan Johnson as a potential replacement. The Tottenham forward has struggled for consistent minutes this season but remains highly regarded for his pace, versatility and Premier League experience.

The statistical gap this season is clear. Semenyo’s nine goals outweighs Johnson’s two, but context matters. Johnson’s reduced output reflects limited opportunities rather than a lack of ability. He has previously shown strong returns over the past few seasons for both Tottenham and Nottingham Forrest.

If Bournemouth can secure Johnson, they would be gaining a forward capable of operating across the front line and maintaining attacking threat. While Semenyo will be difficult to replace directly, Johnson represents a pragmatic reinvestment as Bournemouth look to stabilise their season.
