Manchester City has agreed to a £65 million deal to sign Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo. The 25-year-old Ghana international chose Pep Guardiola’s side over strong interest from several Premier League rivals, driven by his desire to win major trophies and work under one of the best coaches in football.

Semenyo has been one of Bournemouth’s top performers this season, scoring nine goals and providing three assists. His power and intensity without the ball made him a constant problem for defenders. City moved quickly once the opportunity arose, triggering his release clause after agreeing terms with the player.

Ahead of Bournemouth’s clash with Tottenham later today, Semenyo has been linked heavily with a possible farewell appearance. Manager Andoni Iraola admitted it “could be his last game,” praising the winger as a top professional and admitting he would be “almost impossible to replace” if the move is completed.

Semenyo is set to complete his Manchester City medical on Thursday, January 8. This is before signing a long-term deal at the Etihad. If everything goes smoothly, he could be available for selection as early as the FA Cup tie against Exeter this weekend.

For City, it is another smart addition. For Semenyo, it is the biggest move of his career.
