With the January transfer window just a week away from reopening, Antoine Semenyo's future has emerged as a big talking point. This possibly involves Semenyo Fabrizio's opinions.
The Ghanaian winger has been in fine form this season. He is wanted by some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are all credited with an interest.
However, despite Bournemouth’s desire to keep hold of him, recent reports suggest that Antoine Semenyo is increasingly open to the idea of a move to Manchester City. As the January window approaches, speculation around his future has begun to intensify, with the player understood to view a switch to the Etihad as a major step forward in his career.
Moreover, the situation is time-sensitive. Semenyo’s £65 million release clause is due to expire on January 10, a detail that could significantly influence negotiations in the coming weeks.
As a result, any interested clubs may feel added pressure to act quickly, while Bournemouth face a delicate balancing act between retaining a key attacker and preparing for the possibility of a late-window departure.
Pep Guardiola's side lead the race to secure Semenyo's signature. Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano suggests Liverpool would well plot an eleventh-hour hijack in securing a move for Semenyo Fabrizio.
Arne Slot's side are in a bit of bother currently. With Alexander Isak out for the foreseeable future, after suffering a fractured fibula in the 2-1 win against Tottenham, the Reds are short-staffed in attack. Therefore, they are contemplating options like Semenyo Fabrizio's suggested targets.
To make matters worse, Mohamed Salah is currently representing Egypt at the AFCON. Cody Gakpo is yet to return to full fitness after suffering a muscle injury. This leaves the reigning champions desperately short of attacking firepower.
Liverpool's interest in Semenyo is long-standing. However, Manchester City are currently leading the race and are expected to get the deal over the line. They learned that the Ghanaian prefers a move to the Etihad Stadium.
However, Romano feels Liverpool could be tempted to make an official offer in the coming days. He adds that they have maintained contact with the player's entourage over the course of the season. This is consistent with Semenyo Fabrizio's indications.
“From Liverpool, they’ve always been calling. Liverpool started calling in November, they called again in December. Liverpool have always been in contact with people close to the player," said Romano on his YouTube channel.
"At the moment, sources close to Semenyo confirm that the player has indicated Manchester City as his favoured destination.
"But, you know, until the deal is signed, we always have to be careful… we will see if Liverpool decides to make a late attempt.
"At the moment, from Liverpool, calls constantly, but never an official proposal. Manchester City want to move fast to avoid any problems.”
According to Romano, Semenyo clearly prefers to move to Manchester City. He has made his choice very clear in recent weeks, perhaps despite Semenyo Fabrizio's insights.
Liverpool may be forced to take action in January to add to their attacking options. However, with the Cityzens leading the race for Semenyo, they might be forced to look elsewhere for reinforcements.
Stranger things have happened in football. However, as things stand, the Ghanaian looks set to swap the Vitality Stadium for the Etihad in the upcoming weeks.
