Manchester City suffered a massive dent in their pursuit of the Premier League crown as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
The Cityzens were cruising and looked comfortable for large parts of the game as Tijjani Reijnders gave them the lead in the first half.
Chelsea didn't look too bad considering their off-field troubles and the sacking of Enzo Maresca. However, they never looked like scoring until stoppage time when Enzo Fernandez bundled the ball home from close range.
City are now six points behind Arsenal at the top of the table and face an uphill battle to leapfrog Mikel Arteta's side.
Here are some talking points from a game City should have seen off quite easily.
After joining from AC Milan in the summer, Reijnders’ goalscoring ability has been on display a handful of times for Manchester City.
The Dutch international enhanced his reputation further with a magnificent strike with his left foot.
After receiving the ball inside the box, Reijnders moved the ball into his weaker foot and lashed a fierce strike past Filip Jorgensen in goal.
He’s now scored three goals in as many games and is playing some brilliant football overall.
Starting on the left flank, Pedro Neto had a few chances in the final third, particularly in the second half.
Moments into the first half, he found himself in acres of space but opted to find a Chelsea teammate in the box when he should have gone for an effort on goal.
A few minutes later, he missed a fantastic opportunity to score from close range after being teed up by Enzo Fernandez.
Neto continued to struggle as the game went on as he constantly made the wrong decision in the final third.
He slowed down a lot of Chelsea moves and cut a frustrated figure as it simply wasn’t happening for him. Safe to say it wasn’t his finest outing as a Blue.
McFarlane's clash vs Guardiola maybe one of biggest managerial mismatch in Premier League history.
While the Spaniard is one of the greats of the game, McFarlane took charge of his first senior game in his managerial career as he's only in charge of Chelsea on an interim basis.
To be fair to the Englishman, he set his team up to be quite solid at the back, although Chelsea didn't offer too much going forward.
Call it beginner's luck, but at the end of the day, he got his side a valuable point to give them some joy in what has otherwise been a turbulent few weeks at Stamford Bridge.
