Nigerian Afrobeats star Divine Ikubor, known professionally as Rema, has touched down in Morocco ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Rema, arrived in the North African nation on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Is expected to be the star of attraction in the opening ceremony of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Watch the ceremony live on Channel 4.

The 25-year-old, who is considered to be one of the biggest musicians to have come out of Nigeria. Becoming the first African to perform at the Ballon d'Or ceremony. Showcasing his magic at the 2023 edition held in Paris, France.

Rema was also spotted in Morocco alongside popular Nigerian musician Patoranking, but the reason behind their meeting remains uncertain.

However 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will be the second edition hosted by Morocco. Last hosting it in 1988, when Nigeria ended as runner-up to Cameroon, and Morocco claimed the 4th spot.

Morocco was scheduled to host the 2015 competition. However they stepped aside due to fears arising from the Ebola virus epidemic.

The opening match of the 2025 AFCON will be between Morocco and Comoros. Hosted at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdullah in Rabat.
